If you want to visit both Provence and the Mediterranean, Saint-Raphaël is a good place to start. The people are pleasant and relaxed, they are used to foreign visitors from ancient times.

The climate is perfect. Spring starts in February and in the winter the temperature seldom goes below 10 centigrade in the day. All together you have fine weather most of the time, hence people call the area Europe's California. Around July 15th the French vacation starts, and for the next six weeks the coast is pretty crowded.

As a visitor you find hotels (with prices starting from 120 FF per night for two persons) and plenty of camping sites and other resorts. it is to be recommended!
